IPQuorum 2021 Business Program Announced: Tech for Content

The boom in online education, the fierce confrontation between IT giants, the multi-million dollar views of dance videos, and messengers as digital havens are only a small part of the ongoing technological trends. They are all related in one way or another to the production, distribution, and monetization of content. What can we do to provide the growth of digital products? Which technologies will be used to promote the growth of creative business? Why has creativity become a new way to survive in today’s world? Participating speakers of IPQuorum 2021: Tech for Content will try to find answers to these questions and other ambiguities in question.

The business program of the Forum embraces all types of creative industries, ranging from fashion, industrial design, gastronomy to art, software development, and media. In two-day events participants will share their vision of how to value, protect and generate revenue from intellectual property assets, and identify which business models will be applicable for different creative industries to expand their presence in the digital world.

On the first day of IPQuorum 2021: Tech for Content participants will be introduced to the creative use of technology. The Forum will start with a plenary session entitled “Providers of happiness, or the economy of emotion.” Participants will make their predictions for new content forms to emerge in the near future and share real-life cases to reveal the struggle for modern consumers spoilt for choice by an abundance and variety of content. Experts will talk about digital twins, sewing robots, jewelry and 3D food printing and about economic and legal implications of the digital transformation of theaters and museums.

High-tech technologies for content have emerged as a focus of the Forum due to the unprecedented growth of the digital market in the time of the pandemic. Creative sectors in many countries across the globe have become the driving force of economic development, says Andrei Krichevsky, Chairman of the RSPP Committee on Intellectual Property and Creative Industries, President of the IPChain Association. “Creative businesses are now referred to the key tools of public administration. Creative industries make room for a window for growth, provide jobs and be the basis for a rapid increase in the country's GDP. Effective and meaningful functioning of this economy sector is a decisive factor in the state's self-preservation.”

Participants of the plenary session "IP Secured Funding. Investments, loans, crowdfunding, crowdlending” will discuss the ways to gain loyalty of banks and investors to IP assets.

Technologies of sustainable markets will become a key agenda of the second day of the Forum. The session entitled “Time to Create. How to stimulate the growth of the creative industry markets” will answer some of the principal questions about the development of the creative businesses: will streaming completely capture the attention of TV audiences, how recommendation algorithms affect the development of the market, and will they transform online service into a factory for TV series and movie hits. Other keys of the discussion include performances for WhatsApp and Zoom, Deepfake technology, AI-generated hyper individual content and Big Data.

New ways of promoting and generating revenues from IP assets will be discussed at the session “Concert as digital: a new reality for concert activities.” Participants of the session will focus on gamified performances of artists and proven techniques to attract and keep big audiences.

Partners of IPQuorum 2021 believe that taking part in the Forum will enable guests to realize why creative industries are not about activities of designers, architects or musicians, but a uniform community capable of becoming a government partner once a certain approach is applied. Marina Abramova, director of Roskultcentre said: “Providing support at individual level is not enough in order to build up a reliable pool of talents in the creative sector of economy. It is vital to apply an entire set of measures that implies providing conditions to promote the creative and cultural sector not only at the federal level, but also in Russia’s regions. It is important to consider creative ideas and prodcts as economic assets that can become the basis for an effective ubusiness plan. I’m confident that at IPQuorum we will find like-minded people in this respect.”

The Forum is organised by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Skolkovo Foundation, and the IPChain Association.
