Focus on content: IPQuorum 2021 brings together leaders of the creative economy in Skolkovo
IPQuorum 2021- the meeting point of the creative industries and the world of intellectual property - will take place on April 26-27 in the Technopark of the Skolkovo Innovation Center in the Tech for Content format. The topic of the business program is the new technologies for the production, distribution and monetization of the content: from cinema to music and theater, from design, architecture to restaurant business and modern engineering.
The world's creative industries are growing at 15% per year and give impetus to the growth of the more traditional sectors of the economy. In Russia, large cities with creative clusters act as locomotives of the creative economy; audio streaming, digital platforms and electronic services are developing at a furious pace. By some estimates, the contribution of creative industries to GDP ranges from 500 billion to 3 trillion rubles a year. The explosive growth in the consumption of digital creative content has marked a period of quarantine restrictions.
Experts and market participants will discuss the creation of innovative technologies for creativity, protection of intellectual rights in the digital and real world.
This year the forum will bring together 1,500 participants from 30 countries of the world. More than 60 sessions, discussions and master classes will take place over two days. The speakers are foreign and Russian experts in the field of digital technologies, economic transformation, national creative industries and the global IP market.
The forum will be organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Skolkovo Foundation and the IPChain Association.
Intellectual property has become an essential business asset in modern economic relations. Igor Drozdov, Chairman of the Board of the Skolkovo Foundation, noted: “Unfortunately, in practice, intellectual property is still not perceived by many as a possible source of significant income. Meanwhile, a significant part of any business is built on the use of the results of intellectual activity, although we often do not think about it. Office design, brand, production technology, as well as digital technologies (artificial intelligence, platform solutions and much more) are the product of creative activity”.
Andrey Krichevsky, Chairman of the RSPP Committee on Intellectual Property and Creative Industries, President of the IPChain Association, considers a contradiction between local and global as one of the challenges of the digital economy: “The digital content market will grow by almost $ 520 billion by 2024, and the average annual growth rate will be 15% worldwide. Thanks to technology, production and consumption of creative products get transboundary nature. At the same time, the safeguarding and protection of intellectual property remain territorial in nature. Today, the interaction of national intellectual law and the global market for a creative product, whether it be within the framework of patent cooperation or cross-border electronic transactions with copyright objects, is the most important issue on the business agenda”.
Representatives from Russia, the Netherlands, Brazil, Republic of Korea, India, France, Germany, Spain, Israel, UAE, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Singapore, Poland, Japan, South Africa and other countries will take part in IPQuorum. According to Saule Tlevlessova, President of the Eurasian Patent Organisation, “digital innovations continue to conquer the world, and patent law is effectively responding to this challenge. Today the EAPO is successfully considering applications for the most sophisticated and cutting-edge technologies that open the door to the digital future of Eurasia”.
The co-organizers and partners of the forum will be the Federation of Intellectual Property (FIP), the Confederation of Rightholders' Societies of Europe and Asia (CRSEA), the Digital IP Scientific and Educational Center for Intellectual Property and the Digital Economy. The communication partner of the forum is the agency of complex communication solutions “Prophet”. The official partner of the forum is the “Gazprom-Media” holding.
Alexander Zharov, General Director of “Gazprom-Media” holding, noted that the media was one of the first industries that naturally and seamlessly entered the digital era. And today for us digital transformation is a key process in the long-term development strategy of the holding. I am sure that the expertise already accumulated in “Gazprom-Media” in the application of new digital technologies in the field of production, promotion, distribution and monetization of content will be of interest to IPQuorum participants. And for us the forum is important, first of all, as a platform for discussion and generation of those ideas that will very soon become our “tomorrow”. And we want to be among its founders and creators”.
Information partners of IPQuorum 2021 will be TASS, Forbes, the Union of Journalists of Russia, the InterMedia news agency, “ArtMoskovia”, “Kultura” newspaper, the Eurasian Patent Organisation (EAPO).
